Riding bus routes end-to-end – London

So, I have now started to film full route visuals (in other words riding bus routes end-to-end) and here are my opinions of the bus routes I traveled (end-to-end) in London so far.

Abellio London

Route 344: Clapham Junction – Liverpool Street

Quite a nice route I have to say. It starts at Clapham Junction with a very busy train station (and a lot of bus routes terminate at/go to Clapham Junction as well!) but with some nice buildings as well. It starts at St John’s, where you can film a nice variety of buses, from the lovely Abellio and Arriva routes (such as the 49, 319, 344) to the annoying (with very ugly Gemini 3 Frogfaces) Metroline route 295. That’s why I love Clapham Junction (in terms of buses)! But the area seems nice as well!

After we left the busy Clapham Junction, we then pass another quite nice area (Battersea) with some nice architecture. Then we go through Nine Elms, where some very nice and stylish modern buildings are being built (as flats, as they have decommissioned Battersea Power Station). The development isn’t 100% yet complete, but a few buildings have been completed.

Subsequently, the route calls at Vauxhall Bus Station. Then we went through Lambeth, with a nice view on the River Thames. However, after Lambeth Bridge Roundabout, the route starts to go through a run-down area (I should say Newington in my opinion). After Newington we go through Elephant & Castle (which in my opinion it is excellent for buses but I’m not keen on the area itself).

The last part of the route (towards Borough Market-London Bridge) starts to be really nice again with some lovely architecture. Finally we cross London Bridge, get to the awesome Bank area (full of banks, as suggested by the name) and the route terminates at Liverpool Street, an interesting area where you have the very nice Spitalfields Market, and if you love curry (or any other type of Indian food), not far from the 344 terminus at Liverpool Street you’ve got Brick Lane as well!

Overall, the 344 was a very interesting route to me in my opinion. It goes through many nice areas although I’m not too keen on Newington-Elephant & Castle (as an area itself though, in terms of bus variety E&C is fantastic and has great variety of buses!). The part from Battersea Park to Lambeth has to be my favorite because you can get a nice view of the Thames! Also, the fact that is Abellio London with lovely buses (I love the old E400s on it, the MMCs are nice too!) is also why I love the 344!

MY VOTE: 8/10 A

lol I will a mark the bus routes in old GCSE grading as well (e.g. giving a route an A* or a D).
